Royal Nigeria, Nimota

Atlanta, Georgia

Nimota Dairo re-established her business in Atlanta with the assistance of the Community Navigator Pilot Program (CNPP), with details submitted in a prior story. Previously, with the support of her Navigator, Nimota successfully secured a business loan through the IRC’s Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO), connected with a local copacker, and stabilized her financial situation.

Since then, Royal Nigerian has grown rapidly, and she, with the help of her Navigator at IRC Atlanta, has systematically tackled new challenges and growing pains. She struggled to grow the business’s online presence, manage finances, and obtain the proper state licenses.

To address these challenges, Nimota was directed to the proper resources. IRC Atlanta formed a new relationship with an affordable shared commercial kitchen space, where Nimota and other food entrepreneurs rent space. The director also assisted her in applying for the proper food safety licenses for free. This allowed Nimota to access additional markets and sell baked goods under consignment at a local café.

Nimota’s Navigator also connected her to an IRC volunteer web developer who helped set up her website (https://www.shoproyalfoods.com/), where customers can view her signature sauces, book catering services, and buy products directly online. This increased her brand awareness and credibility as she pursued larger opportunities, such as catering for weddings and corporate events. Additionally, her Navigator trained to implement SEO tools for the website and set up a Google Business Profile.

Finally, her Navigator worked in tandem with an IRC Financial Coach to review her personal budget and business cash flow. She utilized this information to revisit the product prices. As a result, Nimota secured an auto loan through IRC’s Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO). With this loan, she purchased a pick-up truck, which provides flexibility to markets and large catering events.

Nimota is grateful for the support she received at the IRC. “Thank you to the IRC team for accepting me and supporting my dream and business. You gave me so many opportunities; I truly believe this team has been a big game-changer in my life. I sincerely appreciate your key role in my success.”
