California Mosaic Small Business Center
The California Mosaic Small Business Center is a project by the International Rescue Committee to provide California’s 880,000 immigrant entrepreneurs easy access to linguistically and culturally accessible business technical assistance, training, and support. Funded in part through a Grant with the California Office of the Small Business Advocate. Mosaic is available to small business clients across ALL of California.
Mosaic includes:
- Multi-lingual website for Californian entrepreneurs, offering services in Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Swahili, Spanish, and French.
- Personalized small business assistance from trained multi-lingual coaches.
- In-person and remote group workshops on various business topics available via the California Mosaic Small Business Center website.
- Assistance with accessing financial products, including business loans and credit-building programs, through community lenders and IRC financial coaches.

(inclusive of the Family Child Care Microenterprise Program)
San Jose’s Microenterprise Development Program supports new Americans who are aspiring small business owners in the South Bay Area. Workshops, 1:1 specialized counseling and language assistance are available to support our immigrant and refugee clients reach their entrepreneurial goals! Access to small business loans and savings grants are available, as well. We also offer a Family Child Care Microenterprise Program specifically for our Afghan clients in Santa Clara and Alameda County. Trainings offered prepare clients to become licensed Child Care Business Owners from their own homes
